When students finish the ACAP course, they are well prepared to seek internship opportunities within the Seattle business community.  These internship opportunities are offered primarily during the summer timeframe.  A student should be prepared to submit a cover letter, resume, and any possible letters of reference.  ACAP's Executive Director can offer assistance in preparing this paperwork.

TUTOR/MENTOR TEACHING ASSISTANT

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Tutor/Mentor low-income and/or first generation youth with college potential who are having specific difficulties by conducting after school individual and small group sessions.  Tutor high school subjects with special emphasis in English, History, Math, and Science.  Maintain attendance and tutoring logs.  Prepare and plan tutoring sessions.  Attend staff meetings. Maintain personal contact with students (individual meetings/phone calls).  Maintain complete and accurate records.  Assist with recreational, cultural and social activities that help provide motivational impetus for students and other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Currently enrolled in the junior or senior year of a four-year college; education majors preferred.  Experience in working with students from minority or a low-income background is desired.  Proficiency in basic skills area (math, reading, science).  Recommendations and references from instructors, counselors and/or employers will be requested.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Responsible, ability to work with bilingual clientele, problem solving and work with a minimum of supervision.

Salary & Benefits:        14.01/hour

Desired hours:             2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday

Deloitte & Touche LLP Seattle is looking to hire a part time summer intern interested in pursuing a career in professional services. The internship will include exposure to the various functions of the organization, and focus on supporting Audit partners and managers with projects. Job Description –Investment Operations

Position Overview

This position will provide operational, administrative and analytical support for the firm.  The employee in this position will have the opportunity to be involved in trade settlement activities, account reconciliation, updating portfolio investment reports for clients and portfolio managers, and certain administrative functions.  In addition this position will provide analytical support on routine and special projects supporting the investment and portfolio management functions.

Responsibilities

Listed below are some of the primary responsibilities:

q       Reconciles client accounts and generates reports.

q       Handles securities settlement including custodian and broker communications.

q       Prepares weekly and monthly investment reports using Bloomberg, EXCEL, BondEdge and Access.

q       Serve as backup staff person for BondEdge system (Portfolio Analytics).

q       Updates and creates presentations using PowerPoint.

q       Special and routine projects as assigned.

q       Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities

This position requires an individual who is detailed oriented, computer literate, well organized, flexible, enjoys balancing accounts and working with numbers.  Successful candidate will be proficient with Microsoft EXCEL and other MS products.  Other requirements include good customer service skills and the ability to exercise initiative and prudent judgment.  Individual must be reliable, proactive, and able to work independently. 

Desired Skills/Qualities

Bachelor degree in business, economics, finance, accounting or closely related field or equivalent experience preferred.  Some work experience in an administrative, operations, accounting or bookkeeping capacity.

VOLUNTEER AT CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL AND REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER

Goal:              

Learn some of the accounting duties of an AP clerk, Payroll Clerk and an Accounting Technician.

Term:              

At least 40 hours of commitment – over 3 months

Some computer and 10 key skills.
